Bra Boys

This is a documentary film about a gang of surfers in the Maroubra area of Australia. The film tells the story of three brothers within the gang who all came from an extremely tough background and conveys their loyalty to one another. It took years for men to earn a place in the bra boys gang, but once accepted they wold receive tattoos of their name or the famous image of the bra boys hand shake, symbolising the strength of the group.

Despite being quite biased towards the gang, it was amazing to have an insight to the tight knit surfing cultures. Their protectiveness of their beaches which results in getting into trouble with the police is not surprising if you consider that the waves and the surf is all they have as a means to escape all the hardships to their lives.
